James Doohan, famed for his role as classic Star Trek's chief engineer Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott, passed away at the age of 85 in his home in Redmond Washington. Born in Vancouver and raised in Sarnia, Doohan served in World War 2 with the Winnipeg Rifles, 13th Field Regiment, and lost part of a finger on D-Day during the landings on Juno Beach. (His injury was covered up in Star Trek with the use of a prop hand.)
Everyone's favourite sci-fi engineer will surely be missed. He is survived by his third wife Wende, and his seven children.
